Airbus unveils its 2050 flying vision
Conceptual soothsayers at plane-builder Airbus have gazed 40 years into the future, to show what the aircraft cabin of 2050 might look like.

The first thing you’ll notice is that the claustrophobic fuselage shell is gone, now replaced by panoramic views of the sky above you. This is achieved by a twisting bionic structure — inspired by bird skeletons — and a transparent membrane.

Instead of splitting passengers up by class, they’ll be divided by the activities they want to engage in during the long haul trip. These personalised zones could become an interactive conference room with business partners on the ground, or a virtual reality golf course.

Airbus invites the passengers of 2050 to discover its Concept Cabin - a whole new flying experience inspired by nature. Charles Champion, Airbus Executive Vice President Engineering, says: "Our research shows that passengers of 2050 will expect a seamless travel experience while also caring for the environment. The Airbus Concept Cabin is designed with that in mind, and shows that the journey can be as much a voyage of discovery as the destination. Whichever flight experience is chosen, the passenger of 2050 will step out of the Airbus Concept Cabin feeling revitalised and enriched."

미래 여객기는 시스루? 투명 항공기 나올까?

[쇼핑저널 버즈] 대한항공이 6월 17일 A380 첫 운항을 앞두고 16일 시험비행 행사를 진행했다. A380은 유럽 항공기 제조사인 에어버스( www.airbus.com )가 만든 여객기로 '하늘을 나는 호텔'로 불리는 통한다. 기존 여객기보다 50% 가량 공간이 넓어져 이코노미 좌석만 배치한다면 853석에 이르는 공간을 확보할 수 있다. 내부에는 와인바나 일부 항공사는 스파 공간을 마련해놓기도 했다.

에어버스가 이번에는 오는 2050년 제작을 목표로 둔 미래 여객기 컨셉트를 발표해 눈길을 끈다. 이 최첨단 여객기가 내세운 컨셉트는 '투명'이다. 본체 앞면과 천장은 물론 옆면까지 투명 소재로 만들어 여객기에 타면 사방이 탁 트인 모습을 연출하겠다는 것. 마치 패션 등에서 유행하는 시스루(see-through) 패션을 연상케 한다.

컨셉트 여객기의 외형은 꼬리날개가 2개로 나뉘어져 있는 걸 빼면 현재 운항 중인 항공기와 크게 다르지 않다. 좌석은 탑승객의 체온까지 인식하는 등 몸 상태에 따라 알아서 최적의 서비스를 제공할 수 있다. 운항 관련 정보는 정면에 위치한 파노라마 스타일의 디스플레이로 한눈에 볼 수 있다. 공동 공간도 마련해 홀로그래피를 활용한 가상 골프를 즐기거나 회의를 할 수도 있다.

비행기 앞쪽은 정면과 옆면 모두 투명하게 개방된 창에 노출되어 있다. 만일 햇빛이 강하게 느껴지면 해당 투명 패널 쪽에 손만 대면 동작을 감지해 블라인드를 내릴 수도 있다. 미래 여객기 컨셉트에 대한 자세한 정보는 홈페이지(www.thefuturebyairbus.com)에서 확인할 수 있다.
