2011년 현재 Genius Rankings: IQ 200+

기네스북에 등재된 현존하는 세계 최고 지능의 보유자에 관련된 뉴스가 올라왔다.

기사를 보니 1위의 타오(IQ: 230)나 2위 히라타(IQ: 225), 3위 김웅용(IQ: 210)씨 순으로 천재라고 한다.

으잉? 근데 가만 보니 국적이야 호주, 미국 어쩌고 하지만 셋다 동남아 인종이고 Family Name이 Tao, Hirata, Kim이다.

Tao면 아마도 중국 아니면 베트남 출신으로 추정되고, Hirata는 일본계, 김웅용씨야 당연히 우리 한국인이다.

평범하지 않은 삶을 영위해왔음을 짐작케 하는 부류의 사람들이라 생각된다.

김웅용씨 또한 NASA에서 나와 평범한 삶을 살고 싶어 귀국하게 되었다고 하니 미인박명과 같이 천재이기에 슬픈 구석이 있는지도 모른다.

지금의 대한민국의 천재들은 무얼하고 있나?

얼마 전에도 카이스트 학생이 자살하여 떠들썩하지 않았던가.

뭐 해석하기 나름이겠지만, 과도한 경쟁에 내몰린 나머지 극단적 선택을 했다는 둥, 죽은 자는 말이 없는 데 신나게 떠들며 군불을 지피는 언론들이 새삼 사악하게만 느껴지는 세월이다.

그 누구든 자기의 삶에 대하여 범접 못하게 할 개인사가 있을 것이다.

밖에서 바라보는 주제에 너무 나발거리지 않는 것이 상책이지 싶다.

뭐 그래도 도대체 IQ 200+의 세계는 어떨까? 솔직히 궁금하고 나름 상상을 해보지만 하루살이와 파리가 다르듯 차원이 다른 영역일 게다.

김웅용, 기네스북 등재된 아이큐가 세계3위, 1위 얼마이길래
한국의 아인슈타인 등으로 불리며 천재로 주목받았던 김웅용(47)씨가 세계 아이큐 3위의 천재로 꼽혔다.
루마니아 등지의 외신은 4월 7일(현지시간)자 보도로 세계에서 가장 아이큐가 높은 사람들을 발표하며 3위에 김웅용씨를 선정했다.
김웅용씨는 아이큐 210으로 3위에 기록됐다. 김웅용씨는 이미 1980년 기네스북에 지능지수로 이름을 올리며 천재의 위용을 과시했다.

이미 5살에 방정식과 적분 문제들을 풀어내며 일본 방송에 출연했고 당시 4개국어를 한다고 알려졌다.
1974년부터 미국 항공우주국(NASA)에서 선임연구원으로 근무하는 등 만화에서나 나올 법한 인생을 살아온 김웅용씨는 지난 1978년 갑자기 "평범한 삶을 살고싶다"면서 귀국해 검정고시를 봤다.

김웅용씨는 1981년 검정고시로 충북대 토목공학과에 입학해 현재는 충북개발공사에서 일하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.
한편 세계에서 가장 아이큐가 높은 사람은 바로 호주 출신의 테렌스 타오(36) 다. 타오는 1995년 8세 당시 대학입학자격시험(SAT)에서 760점을 받았고 11세때 수학 올림피아드 대회에 수차례 출전하며 금·은·동메달을 석권했다. 20세때는 미국 프린스턴 대학에서 박사학위를 따고 24세때 UCLA 최연소 교수가 됐다.

그 뒤를 이어 2위는 아이큐 225의 미국 출신 크리스토퍼 히라타가 차지했다. 히라타는 학교를 중퇴한 뒤 16세때 NASA에 화성관련 프로젝트 구성원으로 참여하며 두각을 나타냈다.
