No words to describe this. I've lived in Phoenix for 35 years and seen tons of dust storms.

This was something else entirely.

Phoenix Dust Storm 2011 - Arizona Dust Storm Monsoon July 2011 in Gilbert, Arizona | Haboob Cloud

2011.07.05

Massive dust storm hits the Phoenix Arizona and Gilbert Arizona areas on July 5th, 2011.

HD video footage of the Phoenix, Arizona 2011 Dust Storm Haboob.

I scrambled outside very quickly, completely caught off guard by this dust storm so please do not expect any good commentary as it was shot on the fly.

lol But I do hope you like the footage! There was tons of dust being thrown through the air, so breathing was quite difficult and the winds began to pick up as the dust storm progressed.

Phoenix Dust Storm (Haboob) Timelapse July 5, 2011 by Blaine Coury

Taken from a hill at Sun Ray park in Ahwatukee (Phoenix), Arizona.

Shot on my Canon 60D in at f/5.0 at 2 second intervals.

This only took about 5 minutes to roll in from the time I started shooting.

Here's some more behind the scenes footage taken from my cell phone, just as the storm hits: youtube.com/watch?v=jx2Zzp-cGgM

Phoenix Huge Dust Storm 7/5/2011 amazing!

2011.07.05

Giant Phoenix Dust Storm. I have lived in Phoenix since the 70's and have never seen anything this amazing.

This is uncut/edited video using a new camera for the 1st time.

The video is taken from the base of South Mountain looking South towards the radio/TV towers.

From the time we saw the dust cloud rising behind the mountain to a complete black-out was less than 4 minutes! My wife was swimming right up until the storm was at our home, despite my earlier pleas for her to get out sooner.

Hope you enjoy the video, everyone was safe and enjoyed the storm, no major damage, just a lot of cleanup tomorrow.

Phoenix Dust Storm : Video of Doomsday Scenes in Arizona(RussiaToday)

These amazing pictures from the United States show a wall of dust moving through the city of Phoenix in Arizona.

Sandstorms like this happen during the region's monsoon season, which is underway.

They occur over desert land and can reach thousands of feet into the air, spurred by strong winds.

The dense cloud dramatically reduced visibility, grounding flights at a major airport and leaving thousands without electricity.
